This role is an opportunity for you to join the team of five Study Support Tutors and become a vital force in delivering support to our students at the Business School, so that they can achieve their academic potential.

The post will focus on supporting students at their entry point to university.  Many of these students have started their courses in other educational environments are not familiar with the academic skills expectations of students in the UK higher education system.

This is a student-facing role, designed around the needs of undergraduate and postgraduate, business and law students who are studying our taught programmes, many of whom are direct entry or on work based learning courses. You will work with the Faculty of Business and Law’s highly regarded Study Support Team, enabling students registered within the faculty to enhance their academic skills, through one-to-one support, group tutorials, and classroom interventions.  There is potential for some cross-faculty working and outreach work in colleges. The team is managed day to day by the team leader, and report directly to the Associate Dean of Students.

You will need to work creatively to develop relevant resources both for use by academic staff and students and feed new ideas into the implementation of the Faculty’s Education Strategy.  You will be expected to develop teaching skills under the university’s teaching development programme, and undertake ongoing professional development to maintain the currency of your skills.

· who are interested in working with course teams to diagnose the issues facing students who are new to UK universities and to find ways of addressing these.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to take a work related assessment and attend a presentation, given by the existing team, outlining the day to day activities of the team and the expectations of the role.  Those who successfully complete the test will be invited for interview.  This will include a presentation and a panel interview.
