The School of Health Sciences and Social Work continues to expand its pre-registration nursing provision to meet the increased demand for adult nurses and intends to recruit two cohorts (September and January) to our NMC approved BN (Adult) programme. The School has a clear vision for the future; to be a centre of excellence for simulated clinical education, innovation and research and our simulation facilities are exceptional: https://vimeo.com/195596270

To help us achieve our vision, we are seeking a number of Lecturers and Senior Lecturers in Adult Nursing to contribute to teaching excellence and innovation, related to the nursing care of adults and research in the simulated clinical environment. The successful candidates will be able to effectively articulate their contribution to improving patient services, through education, research and innovation. We actively encourage and support those staff who are ambitious in their own career development, through doctoral studies.

We encourage applications from those with specialist interest in one or more of the following:

·         Physiology and nursing management of long term conditions

·         Comprehensive and systematic history taking and physical assessment

·         Underpinning physical, psychological and social sciences

·         Nursing care and management of specialist patients groups (Learning disabilities, paediatrics, older   adults, mental health)

For Lecturer or Senior Lecturer roles, recent experience of facilitating student-centred nursing education in higher education is desirable, along with the motivation and ability to innovate and evaluate our adult pre-registration curriculum as it progresses. For all roles, contemporary knowledge of nursing including working in partnership with service users and their carers is essential.

For these roles, you may possess appropriate professional qualifications; registration on Sub Part 1 of the NMC register is usual although applications for the Lecturer posts are welcome from those with relevant experience in research / academia who are not currently registered.

For all posts, a Degree/postgraduate qualification in health or a related subject is essential.

If you would like to come for an informal visit and discussion in relation to these posts, please contact Dr Isobel Ryder, programme lead for nursing: isobel.ryder@port.ac.uk

Shortlisted candidates will be asked to attend interview on one of the following dates: 13th or 28th September 2017.

The University of Portsmouth embraces diversity and we positively encourage applicants from all sections of the community, in particular from under-represented groups.
