The University of Portsmouth is delighted to invite applications for the post of part-time Muslim Chaplain for our student and staff community. You’ll be confident engaging in theological debate as well as providing pastoral support. You should be able to support and encourage equal participation from all Muslim denominations in our diverse University community, and will be expected to build relationships with the local Muslim and other faith communities.
With experience in pastoral support for Muslim communities, an understanding of the support needs of students and staff, educated in the Islamic faith and Islamic theology, you’ll have excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work with all denominations of Islam, as well as with other faiths. You’ll be committed to collaborative working and to equality and diversity.
You will be required to work a full day on Friday, with on-call responsibilities and other hours to be worked out in conjunction with the Chaplaincy Team.
