The University of Portsmouth is a thriving institution - a centre of excellence and innovation in education, student experience and employability, aspiration raising, research, knowledge transfer and community leadership, and highly valued by its staff as a supportive workplace.

The University of Portsmouth’s Student Wellbeing Service offers integrated emotional, psychological and mental health support to students in order to help them succeed in their studies. A multi-disciplinary team of professional clinical and support practitioners contributes extensive experience, knowledge and skills from a range of professional backgrounds, including psychotherapy/counselling, psychology, occupational therapy, social work and mental health nursing.

We are now seeking applications from experienced psychological/mental health support professionals for this 0.8FTE fixed term contract to support an exciting new project aimed at improving inclusion at the University. The successful applicant will work alongside the other Wellbeing Advisers within the Student Wellbeing Service, supporting students with wellbeing needs, but with a particular focus on providing capacity within the team to support the expansion of training for student peer supporters.

The expansion of peer mentoring and peer support, focusing on support for first year students and particularly for students at greater risk of exclusion, is an important part of a wider project in the University to tackle bullying, harassment, discrimination and violence (including sexual violence and hate crime) by promoting inclusion, dignity and respect. As well as meeting the job description, the successful applicant will be confident training and working with groups of young people.
