Join us at the beginning of a new and exciting time at the University of Portsmouth. The launch of the Master Plan heralds the start of significant capital investment across varied schemes throughout the campus. This together with smaller projects and an ongoing Long Term Maintenance programme requires the support of additional staff within the Estates and Campus Services Projects Team.

 

We are looking for individuals with good technical knowledge, attention to detail, strong organisational ability, pro-active with an in-built drive to succeed. The successful candidate will enjoy an exciting and challenging portfolio of projects for which they will be responsible along with supporting colleagues on more complex schemes.

 

Projects will be varied in nature, complexity and size ranging from around £10k to £multi-million schemes. These include new build, alteration, refurbishment and maintenance schemes to our varied academic, research, social, commercial and residential property portfolio.

 

The role requires candidates to be HND/HNC qualified in a relevant construction based discipline.  Projects will be delivered within budget, programme and to quality and safety standards. Candidates will be expected to undertake their roles effectively from appointment. We are looking for individuals who wish to make a significant contribution to the future success of the University.

 

The role requires
  • Skills and experience to manage multiple projects concurrently from inception to completion together with project monitoring, budget control and reporting
  • Technical skills with knowledge of construction and mechanical/electrical services
  • Knowledge of procurement processes and contract administration
  • Sound knowledge and experience of Health & Safety both on construction sites and working within occupied buildings
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to enable liaison with stakeholders including colleagues, departments, consultants, statutory bodies and contractors
  • Candidates should be able to work equally well as part of a team or on their own
  • Successful candidates to have a pro-active, solution based approach to delivering projects with a can do attitude
  • Candidates to be able to demonstrate a flexible attitude when tasked with a variety of projects
  • Candidates to be customer focused
