The Faculty of Technology wishes to recruit a Senior Technician in Digital Electronics to help contribute to our teaching and research activities in Energy & Electronic Engineering. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Electronic Engineer to join our team and contribute to a diverse and vibrant Faculty. We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated individual, with supervisory experience, who wants to contribute and make a difference in supporting the education of the future generations of engineers.
What will you be doing?
Our faculty is made of a number of School’s/Departments/Institutes that span a wide range of subject areas. As a Senior Technician this role will work primarily with in the area of Energy and Electronic Engineering but would be expected to contribute in other areas across the Faculty as required. The post holder will be involved with work in the following areas:
· Working with Digital & Microcontroller systems
· Working with Analogue Electronics
· Testing and setting up electrical equipment
· Fault finding, and repair of Laboratory equipment
· Wiring and soldering skills
· Use of programming packages
· Assist academic staff with the development and testing of specific experiments
· Prepare and set up the labs, ensuring that all the electronic components are available
You will work with other technical staff and Academic colleagues to help learn and support activities. Part of this role will involve the direct supervision of other technical staff and coordination of work across a number of laboratory areas. You will be directly involved in working with our students from undergraduates to PhDs.
The post holders skills will be utilised across the Faculty. Additionally, although the post holders main field of work will be electronics, they will be required to provide some level of technical support in other subject matters across the Faculty. Training and support will be provided.
