The Department of Psychology offers a vibrant and supportive academic community with an excellent research environment and opportunities for professional development for staff. Consistent feedback suggests that we are a warm and collegiate Department committed to equality, diversity and reducing ‘awarding gaps’ that exist in HE.  We provide an exceptional educational experience for our students and the University of Portsmouth has a Gold TEF rating. Every year we achieve outstanding results in the NSS and we have an excellent track record of students going on to either postgraduate study or graduate employment.  In short, we offer an incredibly rewarding place to work.

Our Department comprises four research centres/groups; the Quality of Life, Health and Well-Being Research Group, the Centre for Interaction, Development and Diversity, the Centre for Comparative and Evolutionary Psychology, and the International Centre for Research in Forensic Psychology.  Our facilities include EEG, eye tracking and psychophysiology labs, virtual reality and motion detection labs, interviewing suites and a baby/infant lab. We have links to local NHS trusts, schools, nurseries and zoos. We are committed to the values of open and reproducible science and are working to support and encourage transparent research practices.
