This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and confident individual to join the University’s Recruitment and Outreach Team as Project Assistant for the Southern Universities Network on a fixed term basis.

The Southern Universities Network (SUN) comprises a number of higher education providers, further education colleges, schools, and other organisations in Dorset, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.  It is part of the National Collaborative Outreach Programme (NCOP) initiative.  The new Office for Students (OfS) funded project aims to increase the number of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in Higher Education.  Further information is available at https://www.officeforstudents.org.uk

 

The post-holder will support the delivery of the SUN outreach programme both on-and-off campus to targeted students, teachers, parents/carers and advisers, in accordance with the aims and objectives of NCOP.   This post will see the successful candidate based at the University of Portsmouth and working under the direction of the SUN Project Leader.

The successful candidate will have experience of working with young people and knowledge of the education sector. You will possess excellent communication, organisation and inter-personal skills. You will be a team player who will relish the challenge of working in a collaborative setting. You will be approachable and demonstrate a commitment to the values of the widening participation agenda.

If selected for this position, you must undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check. You must be prepared to work evenings and occasional weekends as required.  A full, clean driving licence is highly desirable.
