We are seeking to recruit a talented postdoctoral scientist with experience in molecular biology and microbiology to work on an InnovateUK-funded project that will employ synthetic microbiology to screen novel small molecules and traditional Chinese medicine with an overall aim to minimize generation of resistance to human antibiotics during pig production.
The post is available for two years and is part of a £2.2 million research project carried out in collaboration with Oxford Drug Design (UK), Huazhong Agricultural University (Wuhan, China) and Wuhan HVSEN Biotechnology Co.,Ltd. (China). Work will be performed under the direction of Dr Roger Draheim within the School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Portsmouth, which has state-of-the-art equipment available for synthetic microbiology and high-throughput screening.
The successful candidate will have a PhD degree or equivalent in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or a related discipline with a strong research record in molecular microbiology or a related field.
